Fanny Price & Catherine Morland would be so good for each other. Fanny would bring the prudence, but Catherine is pure warmth and joy and Fanny needs that so badly. They have enough mutual interests (reading, horse riding) to get them started in a friendship and I really think they'd soon love each other.

(and maybe Henry Tilney can be a good influence on Edmund?)

I’ve said this before as well, so I’m glad to have this opinion validated! I think Catherine would be able to pull Fanny out of her shell with her genuine enthusiasm. At the same time, Fanny would be a great grounding force for Catherine. I think both of them could learn a lot from each other! On top of that, they could bond over being relentlessly pursued by a short guy they don’t like.

Henry would definitely see Fanny’s merits and call out Edmund in an effectively(but playfully, this is Henry of course). They could both commiserate over their domineering fathers and reckless older brothers, and maybe Henry could convince Edmund to read Anne Radcliffe (not likely though haha).

Henry and Catherine bring with them an energy, warmth, and humor that Fanny and Edmund would seriously benefit from. Also, Fanny’s judgment would be invaluable to Catherine and Henry. I could definitely see them being lifelong friends.

i see "men bad" jokes as very similar to suicide jokes. like making them every once in a while isn't the worst thing, but if you Keep making them constantly. it DOES shape how you start thinking and you WILL become a more unpleasant and bitter person and also make people around you uncomfortable. and sometimes you just gotta choose to not make or engage with certain jokes, even if they are amusing to you, because its just not who you wanna be

Love this part of His Majesty's Dragon where this is basically what happens :

Laurence : in my opinion Temeraire is the prettiest and smartest dragon of the covert, he's elegant, graceful, agile, well proportioned, a true wonder in flight, not to mention a genius whose conversation would delight anyone with good taste...but of course I'm aware I'm biased in my opinion and I don't want to seem like I'm bragging about my dragon

Temeraire : Laurence, the other dragons say I don't look like them, am I ugly :'( ?

Laurence :

Laurence : first of all, who do I need to punch

Laurence: don't worry if it's a dragon, I'm angry enough to even the field

Laurence : second of all, you, my dear, are the most beautiful creature to ever grace this covert with his presence and you shouldn't let anyone tell you otherwise

Laurence : Rankin, my good friend whom I will certainly never want to murder in a fit of righteous fury due to the mistreatment of a dragon, Temeraire is sad, how can I fix this ?

Rankin : idk just give him some cheap shiny trinket, works for mine

Laurence : oh, what a wonderful idea

Laurence : *immediatly spends half of his retirement funds into commissioning a magnificent dragon collar worth an estate*

my 6yo piano student: did you KNOW that girls can marry girls and BOYS can marry boys? But they can’t do that romantic dance together when one has a rose in their mouth, because only boys can play the guitar :(

me: 👁️👄👁️well actually, girls can definitely play guitar??

6yo: WAIT REALLY?? :O

rainia

it was honestly so fucking adorable because she was SO excited to impart with me the news that gay marriage exists, but then instantly heartbroken that wlw couples were robbed of all romance as they couldn’t possibly do the flamenco together
