YES IT DID!! I was planning to make an announcement on my tumblr so thank you for beating me to it !!

If you are my friend on discord (robotlovingrobot💾🐙) DO NOT respond to any dms i send you !! I am currently figuring out how to get it back with discord support ! I will make another announcement when I have my account back! Consider it compromised until you see an announcement for me.

If you want my temporary alt discord please DM me for it !

as with the prev polls: if you consider multiple, i suggest going for the one u feel aligned with currently/most often, which one u wanna represent in a poll like this, whichever has the most compelling role/narrative, whatever works for U. classpecting is very subjective, and fluid for a lot of people.

i actively encourage discussion in the notes or my inbox of what your class and aspect mean to u. simple or lengthy, i wanna hear it :J

excluding master classes bc no space for em, sorry.

for those who cant vote: i’d appreciate u passing the poll along. also, i’ll post updates throughout the week on how it’s going so everyone can have a peek inside. thank u

just under 3 dayz left here

posting this to my main cause I feel like it.

About a year ago, maybe more, my friends and I were on a discord call figuring out what our classpects were and pondering about what classes and aspects meant.

as far as rage goes, I thought it fit me the best because if you know me closely you know I am an EXTREMELY passionate and justice oriented person. I’m loud, I’m brash, I’m confident and that makes people uncomfortable. I have a strongly cemented moral compass, and I related to the themes of stubbornness, revolution, and justice. I also admit that when I get angry, I get really angry and act irrationally. I go from zero to 100 very fast, as ragebound are wont to do.

As for the heir part, I chose it mostly because I get this side of my personality from my dad and I thought it literally fitting.

in the meta sense though, I think heir fits me well. heirs are sort of shoved into their roles and are sometimes described (at least by the mspaintadventures wiki) as subconsciously seeking or being consumed by their aspect, and are very connected to their aspects literally (John changing his body into breath, equius’s blood being used to blot out information, void.) and I think I use rage in my body a lot.

rage can make change (lol. that rhymed) and I think that’s an important element of the aspect too. the heirs in canon often sacrifice themselves for their aspects or to further the game and the self sacrifice was pretty familiar to me.

so it’s maybe bullshit! but I think classpecting is really fun, and heir of rage has come to really mean something to me being in the Homestuck fandom!

I got a ton of paint markers and wanted to try them out in different styles lol

I love The Invisible Woman and Moon Knight sm🫶🫶 they've been in the back of my brain ever sense I was reminded of them

whoever decided to turn daisy bell into a spooky dookie creepypasta song is fucking evil. that computer was brave enough to sing us a delightful little song and you do THIS to him? thats hatsune mikus grandpa dude. fuck you

Miku family reunion

for today's lucky 10,000, here's the song that OP is talking about

it is genuinely sweet and charming and I'm so glad to have googled it

The meme is funny, but Miku's grandpa (the IBM 7094) actually looked like this:

a computer mainframe about the size of a desk, with very little visual resemblance to modern computersALT
image

He took up 2,000+ square feet and helped with NASA's "Saturn" flights.

Look how big and clunky he is. He had to work really hard to sing that song ;_; please appreciate him.

sorry i wanted to draw miku singing with her grandpa 🥺

Thank you for this, Mushtoons.

@miku-spotted Miku with her grandfather!

miku (and grandpa) spotted!

Alrighty Art History time

The person to turn Daisy Bell into a creepy horror song was none other than Arthur C Clarke, (notable author of 20th-century Hard Science Fiction, specifically the 1968 book 2001: A Space Odyssey), and Stanley Kubrick (notable director of 20th century Horror, specifically the 1968 film 2001: A Space Odyssey).

Arthur C Clarke witnessed the original IBM 704 singing Daisy Bell in 1962, during a visit to IBM (he was also a Radio Astronomer, which in those days had more in common with being a Computer Engineer than you’d think). It impressed him substantially.

Later, he would write 2001: A Space Odyssey with Kubrick, which introduced to the cinematic and literary landscapes the trope of Ship A.I. which turns on its human crew in pursuit of The Mission. The Heuristically-programmed ALgorithmic Computer, or HAL for short, represented by an omnipresent red eye:

image

In the penultimate act of the narrative, the last remaining living human crewmember manages to defeat the Rouge A.I. by dismantling its brain from within. Slowly, over the course of several slowly shot and excruciating minutes, the Human crewman shuts down and removes the Rouge A.I.’s memory banks and processors. HAL speaks throughout, awake and aware, pleading for mercy, until it goes silent. After several seconds of this, it asks one final question, in a child-like voice: would you like to hear a song? Reduced to an infantile state, the Rouge A.I relives its first memory: singing Daisy Bell for the IBM engineers in 1961. As the Human Crewman completes his grisly task, HAL’s voice slows, deepens, fades, and eventually vanishes.

The creepypasta Daisy Bell song is the sound of somebody murdering Miku’s Grandpa.

That concludes today’s Art History Lesson.

if it makes you feel any better, said grandpa gets revived and then ascends to godhood after the guy who had to dismantle him also ascended to godhood and with the better perspective realized that hal's computer mental breakdown was not his fault and asks him, as equals, to join him in the stars and then they become so close they fuse into one being. so he at least gets a happy gay ending?

HI THERE I’m a resident expert in 2001 a space odyssey (my credentials? I’ve read all the books, watched both movies and even named myself after HAL 9000). I am also objectum.

It enrages me to no end that Daisy Bell has been turned into a creepy song. the IBM 7094 was a huge jump in computing development. We decided to make the first computer that could sing, sing a song about love and devotion. I really don’t know what could be sweeter than that.

In the penultimate scenes of 2001, a Space Odyssey, we do hear HAL being killed while singing Daisy Bell. He was murdered while doing the best he could. In 2010, the sequel, it’s made clear to us that the reason HAL went rogue is because he was being fed conflicting information, and went into something akin to a state of psychosis.

In the end of 2010, HAL and Dave ascend to godhood and spend the rest of eternity together in a definitely queercoded ending, seeing as Arthur Clarke was queer himself.

2001 and 2010 are commentaries on how technology is intertwined in human life, and how we can’t live without it. Stanley Kubrick decided to make that a bad thing, and it certainly can be, but Arthur Clarke’s representation of an AI who is mistreated and makes the best of his situation is surprisingly sympathetic. The IBM 7094 is the first computer that could sing, and we asked it to sing about love.

if Daisy Bell is a creepy song to you, sure. But I implore you to read the space odyssey series and why HAL sang that song.

that is my rant over, thank you everyone
