Kaspersky GReAT has identified an updated variant of CoolClient, a backdoor associated with the HoneyMyte (Mustang Panda) group, being used against organizations in multiple countries, including Pakistan.   The latest variant can deploy a signed Windows kernel-mode driver, allowing attackers to operate at a deeper level of the system and conceal activity. CoolClient also supports keylogging, clipboard theft, credential harvesting, file management, and system reconnaissance.   For organizations in Pakistan, the takeaway is straightforward: Threat intelligence is not simply about knowing what threats exist.
