Intellias will embed specialist teams supported by AI agents into GBG’s engineering function, initially focusing on gaming and financial services. The roadmap includes richer consumer profiles combining additional data sources with biometric and mobile signals. Reach is the first product in the new GBG for Agents portfolio. Chainalysis is challenging ICE’s $94.7 million sole-source contract with TRM Labs in the US Court of Federal Claims. The complaint alleges ICE evaluated potential competitors using highly specific capabilities associated with TRM, including a database of scam victims, agentic AI tools, automated cryptocurrency notifications and relationships supporting asset freezes. Chainalysis argues some criteria were absent from, or expressed differently in, the agency’s formal Statement of Need. ICE maintains that its market research showed TRM was the only vendor capable of meeting all its requirements. Twenty-five years after the 9/11 Commission called for a biometric entry-exit system, a US House Intelligence Committee report says the government has yet to complete it. The committee urges CBP to expand biometric collection at land borders so it can track foreign travelers and “build profiles.” It also calls for interoperable intelligence platforms that combine identity information with AI, commercially available data and real-time threat indicators. The report acknowledges the resulting tension, warning the US not to reproduce authoritarian surveillance architectures while advocating more integrated identity and intelligence systems. Semlex and 13 other defendants have been referred to a criminal court in Brussels over alleged bribery, money laundering and tax fraud connected to the company’s former biometric passport contract in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Investigators allege that approximately $60 from each $185 passport was diverted to a Dubai-registered company linked to an associate of former DRC President Joseph Kabila, with nearly $60 million allegedly diverted in total. The civil parties include 51 Congolese citizens and international rights organizations seeking accountability after a nine-year investigation. Namibia has launched DigiNam, a national public key infrastructure designed to strengthen trust in the country’s expanding digital public infrastructure. The system will support secure online identity authentication and legally recognized electronic signatures for public and private sector transactions. Namibia’s communications regulator will serve as the Root Certification Authority, accrediting service providers and overseeing compliance. ROC has completed its acquisition of Zuccaro Technical Consulting, which now operates as a wholly owned subsidiary. ZTC’s digital forensics capabilities are being integrated into ROC Evidence, expanding the platform beyond digital evidence management into an end-to-end investigative intelligence solution. The combined technology is intended to help forensic examiners, investigators and litigators ingest, manage, analyze and act on digital evidence within a unified workflow. Australia is moving closer to nationwide mobile driver’s licence coverage, with the Northern Territory becoming the latest jurisdiction to commit to an mDL program. The optional credential is expected to launch before the end of 2026. It will work offline and allow residents to carry and present their licence on a smartphone while retaining the option to use a physical card. Australia’s jurisdictions are also converging on ISO/IEC standards, with Austroads working toward nationwide interoperability through its Digital Trust Service. The White House has finalized its plan to make Login.gov the universal sign-on for most public-facing federal services, establishing firm deadlines for a government-wide rollout. Agencies have one year to deploy Login.gov across covered high-impact services and two years to extend it to all other public-facing websites subject to the policy. Alternative identity providers such as ID.me and CLEAR may remain where Login.gov cannot meet specific user or operational needs, but agencies must regularly reconsider those exceptions. The UK’s policy intentions for using digital ID in alcohol sales are becoming clearer, according to Age Check Certification Scheme CEO Tony Allen. New guidance indicates that certified digital proof of age could be used by customers of any legal age, including at self-service checkouts. The model favors privacy-preserving binary proof, while requiring assurance that the credential belongs to the person presenting it. Allen welcomes the greater clarity but warns policymakers not to conflate age assurance with identity assurance.
