I think it is about who is identifying as a proshipper and why.
now teens coping I completely understand, adults coping I understand. Heck even with the perverts I’ve seen that proshipping has helped them in their recovery. And kink is complicated and as long as the people being shipped aren’t real life people, ultimately it is just fantasy. There are many “BUTs” however, and that includes the fact that many proshippers tend to normalize the situations they are shipping, because they tend to be on the younger end and many of them have a harder time separating fantasy from reality. Not only that, but proshipping (more specifically lolicon and shotacon) also makes a lot of perverts worse and more likely to offend. I myself once tried using proshipping to cope as a younger kid and felt too weird to actually do it. But different coping mechanisms work for different folks, still it’s part of my complicated relationship with proshipping. I won’t immediately judge someone for being a proshipper, but I won’t be supportive either. I need to know how specifically they use it, what they mean by it, and what their relationship to fantasy and reality is.

Any time I get overstimulated I start shifting, and I start feeling like a feral animal in a cage. I feel the furry little guy banging against the walls of my flesh as I refuse to move and try to dissociate. okay so lowkey I still live with my parents and siblings (the economy) and I volunteer for a community theatre that has a saloon with food and snacks. And after the last show of the weekend there’s usually food leftover that needs to be taken by someone or thrown away and every time I take food home from the theatre I feel like a little wolf boy providing food for my family like I’ve just returned from the hunt which in a way I guess I am but it’s still a very silly mindset to have

Honestly, I've been thinking about this concept a lot. I think I would accept them, (because I'm a lonely ass bastard) into a found family, because in a way it'd also be healing for myself. I'd empathize with them, trying so hard to be human, to connect with others, to be loved, like I do, tell them they picked the wrong guy to mimic, but we could stay together. Maybe we'd be the only ones to understand each other, two weirdos trying to fit in and ultimately probably beginning to mock each other.
