It was a wonderful evening filled with insightful speeches and meaningful conversations among an exceptional group of academics and practitioners. The depth of expertise and experience in the room was truly inspiring, and a reminder of the incredible value adjuncts bring to the academic community. I am excited to contribute to the University of Canberra's mission — supporting students and collaborating with fellow adjuncts to foster knowledge, innovation, and real-world impact. Thank you for the warm welcome and the invitation — I look forward to the journey ahead. I’m grateful for the opportunity to engage with inspiring leaders who continue to shape a stronger, safer, and more ethical digital future. Monday, 20 April: It was a privilege to co-present with Suresh P., Senior Cyber Security Advisor, Australian Government, and mentor of #ACSCanberra, at the University of Canberra for Ahmed Imran, PhD, FACS Capstone students. Together, we explored a topic relevant to every technology professional and student: ACS Membership, Professionalism, Code of Conduct, and Ethics. Suresh shared impactful case studies and powerful reminders that stayed with me: 🔹 Integrity is non-negotiable – your technical skills open doors; your ethics keep them open. 🔹 Speak up early – ethical issues only become harder to solve over time. 🔹 You are a steward of technology – real people are affected by what we build. 🔹 Ask the right question – not only can we build it, but should we, and how? Tuesday, 21 April: A huge thank you to Mike Meyer for delivering an energising and highly interactive session on communication skills. His message was clear: communication is not just about being heard, it is about building understanding, earning respect, reducing conflict, and creating influence. Some standout reflections: 🔹 The world needs creative, technical, and different-minded people to do amazing things. 🔹 Nothing is ever truly normal, growth comes through practice and action. 🔹 Normal never changed the world. Weird is the new normal. Thursday, 24 April: I was honoured to chair the Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Stream at the Aus Gov Data Summit 2026. It was an incredible opportunity to learn from leaders driving cyber resilience, privacy, and innovation across government and industry. Special thanks to our speakers and panellists: 🔹 Heidi Hutchison – Advancing Australia’s cyber resilience through smarter defence, cross-agency collaboration, and real-time threat response. 🔹 Sean Morrison – Safeguarding trust in the digital age through privacy and accountability in government data. 🔹 Katherine Meagher – Moderator, leading an insightful discussion on uplifting cyber security maturity. 🔹 Philip Kimpton – Department of Home Affairs. 🔹 Krishna Bagla – NSW Government. 🔹 Craig Padayachee – Sharing a valuable case study on rethinking cloud strategy to balance cost, compliance, and control. Weekly Reflection: Technology is not only about systems, tools, or innovation. It is about people, trust, ethics, resilience, and collaboration. Thank you to every speaker, organiser, mentor, student, and professional who contributes their time and expertise to strengthen our tech community and help build a better society. Your impact matters. #Leadership #CyberSecurity #DataPrivacy #DigitalTransformation #ProfessionalDevelopment #TechCommunity #Innovation #Ethics #Collaboration #Learning
