Zero Trust: A Smarter Approach to Information Security Most breaches don't come from outside the network; they come from something already trusted inside it. Zero Trust Architecture, or ZTA, challenges that assumption. The principle is simple: never trust automatically, always verify. Zero Trust focuses on continuously validating users, devices, and access requests before allowing access to sensitive systems and information. For organisations working with ISO 27001, adopting Zero Trust principles can strengthen an Information Security Management System by supporting: 🔹 Stronger identity and access controls 🔹 Least privilege access to systems and data 🔹 Continuous authentication and verification 🔹 Better network segmentation 🔹 Reduced risk from compromised accounts or devices 🔹 Improved visibility of security activity Zero Trust is not a single technology or product. It is a security approach that complements ISO 27001’s risk-based framework and helps organisations build stronger controls around how information is accessed and protected. As cyber threats continue to evolve, combining a structured ISMS with Zero Trust principles can help organisations strengthen resilience and reduce unnecessary exposure. Is your WHS system audit-ready? Safe Work Month is coming this October, making now the right time to review whether your workplace safety documentation and records reflect how your system should be operating. An audit-ready WHS system is more than a collection of policies. It requires current records, clear responsibilities, evidence of consultation, completed training records, documented risk controls, and evidence that safety procedures are followed across the business. Common gaps include: • Outdated risk assessments • Incomplete training records • Incomplete contractor management records • Unclear incident reporting processes • Limited documented evidence of corrective action Identifying these gaps early can reduce compliance risks and support alignment with ISO 45001. Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/duejWceh Do not wait until an audit or workplace incident exposes the gaps. Book a WHS documentation review with GCC and get a clear picture of how your system's records and processes align with ISO 45001 requirements. Customer complaints are more than a service issue. They are data points that can reveal where a quality management system needs attention. ISO 9001 helps organisations reduce complaints through a structured approach. It identifies problems, measures performance, corrects root causes, and drives continuous improvement. With an ISO 9001 Quality Management System, businesses can use customer feedback alongside operational data to monitor: 📊 Complaint frequency and recurring issues 📊 Product, service, and process nonconformities 📊 Rework and error rates 📊 Corrective action completion 📊 Customer satisfaction and supplier performance trends The key is not simply recording complaints. ISO 9001 encourages organisations to investigate why they happened, take corrective action and use the findings to prevent the same issue from occurring again. Over time, this creates more consistent processes, clearer accountability and better visibility into the factors affecting customer experience. Fewer recurring problems can mean fewer complaints, stronger customer confidence and a culture where quality decisions are supported by evidence rather than assumptions. For businesses focused on sustainable improvement, ISO 9001 provides a practical framework for turning customer feedback into measurable action. Psychosocial safety is part of workplace safety. In 2022, Australia’s model WHS framework was strengthened with specific provisions addressing psychosocial hazards and risks at work. Today, managing these risks remains an important WHS responsibility. Psychosocial hazards can arise from the way work is designed, managed and carried out. High job demands, poor support, lack of role clarity, workplace interactions and exposure to traumatic events are just some of the factors organisations need to consider. ISO 45001 provides a structured approach to identifying hazards, managing risks and continually improving workplace health and safety. This can support organisations in taking a more proactive approach to both physical and psychological health and safety. The key is not simply recognising psychosocial hazards. It is identifying where they exist, putting effective controls in place and regularly reviewing whether those controls are working. Psychological health deserves the same systematic approach to risk management as physical health. MFA Explained: A Foundational Part of ISO 27001 Most breaches don't happen because passwords were weak; they happen because passwords were the only thing standing in the way. Multi-factor authentication, or MFA, adds an extra layer of security by requiring users to verify their identity in more than one way. This could include a password, a code sent to a trusted device, or biometric verification. For organisations working towards ISO 27001, MFA supports stronger access control by helping reduce the risk of unauthorised access when passwords are stolen, guessed, or compromised. MFA can help your organisation: ✅ Protect sensitive business and customer information ✅ Strengthen access to critical systems and applications ✅ Reduce the impact of compromised credentials ✅ Support secure remote and cloud access ✅ Demonstrate a stronger approach to information security risk management MFA is not the only security measure your organisation needs, but it is an important foundation for protecting access to information and supporting an effective ISO 27001 information security management system.
