✨Staying Safe Online: Free Gold Coast Library Sessions Want to better protect yourself, your family, and your friends from scams and cybercrime? City of Gold Coast Libraries and IDCARE are delivering six free Staying Safe Online sessions across the Gold Coast this September. These practical, in-person sessions are an opportunity to learn from trusted experts, understand how today’s scams work, discover simple habits to help keep you safe online, and ask questions in a supportive environment. Sometimes a conversation with a specialist can provide far more clarity than trying to find answers through your own online research. Why does this matter? Gold Coast residents reported losing nearly $18 million to scams in 2025, underscoring the importance of understanding the risks and knowing where to seek trusted advice. Cyber security is a shared challenge across Australia and not-for-profit organisations are no exception. A cyber incident can disrupt services and community support, with impacts that extend far beyond the organisation itself. The Australian Government is launching the Not-for-Profit Cyber Uplift Community of Practice to help not-for-profit organisations access practical cyber security guidance, expert support and trusted resources tailored to the sector. Building cyber resilience is not something organisations should have to do alone. The Community of Practice will provide an opportunity to connect with peers, share experiences and learn from experts, helping strengthen cyber security capability across the sector. Thank you to the hard work of AWSN community, partners, and volunteers, AWSN - Australian Women in Security Network is recognised as finalists in two categories at the Australian Women in Security Awards 2026! 🎓 MOST INNOVATIVE EDUCATOR IN CYBERSECURITY: AWSN National Program 👩💻 BEST PROGRAM FOR YOUNG INDIVIDUALS IN SECURITY, proudly sponsored by the Australian Signals Directorate: AWSN Incident Response Competition. Through the AWSN National Program, AWSN delivered 30 cybersecurity‑focused programs nationally over 12 months, empowering 595 women and girls across Australia. These initiatives span over four pillars - SheDiscovers Security, SheLearns Security, SheLeads Security, and SheSpeaks Security creating measurable impact at scale. The program has helped women secure new jobs, achieve career promotions, build professional confidence and access new pathways into cybersecurity and leadership roles, while educating girls about cyber safety and inspiring them to explore careers in cyber security. 🚨 Registrations are now open for the 2026 AWSN Incident Response Competition!  Ready to join up to 400 women from across Australia in one of the country's largest incident response competitions? Whether you're a cyber security professional, student, career changer, or simply looking to build your hands-on skills, this is your opportunity to take part in a unique team-based challenge and connect with a community of like-minded participants.  This year, we're also introducing a new training stream, with selected participants gaining access to hands-on incident response training labs ahead of the competition to help build confidence and strengthen technical analysis skills.  📅 Competition: 6 -15 November 2026  📅 Training labs (selected participants): 7-16 October 2026 📢 Registrations open 7 August 2026 and will remain open for 7 weeks.  Register individually and be placed into a team of up to five participants with a mix of backgrounds and experience levels.  A $15 entry fee is required.
