Art And Stuff

@arbie-right-back

I've been in Undertale for almost 6 years now (literally weekdays every 4 days), and in the Undertale fandom for all of 8... it became an outlet for me during difficult times, and I think that my personality was once built on it X) in general, this game, thematic amino and people in the fandom have become something special and dear to me. I'm very glad that I once spied on my brother when he was watching a walkthrough of this game, and discovered a new world, haha. How many sleepless nights were spent in role-playing games...

Also, when I entered the fandom, I was just starting to draw, and Ink Sans is a character who inspired me to continue. And I dreamed then that I would become a cool artist, draw a cool AU and become popular, but my skill then left much to be desired..

And maybe I did not become a cool and famous Undertale artist, I made progress, and a small version of me would be delighted with how I draw now. So, actually, I drew this picture - as memories of this very important part of my childhood.

thinking of an undertale/underswap au where birds are the national symbol of the underground (a different bird for every region). they're symbols of freedom, prosperity, and strength--and, it is very important to mention, it began as propaganda. Gaster was experimenting on creating monsters capable of handling human-levels of determination without destabilising and figured using bird bones would allow a lab-made monster (sans and papyrus) to contain this without fusing human and monster genes and therefore creating (at best) a pile of semi-sentient goop.

these weapons would ideally be able to break the barrier and fight humans in place of monsters, with much higher success too. sans was designed with blue jay bones (for intelligence and aggression: blue jays eat mostly fruits/nuts/etc but do hunt small invertebrates and are known to be territorial and also decapitate other birds) while papyrus was created with the secretary bird (for raw strength and, again, aggression. just look at how that thing hunts).

the bros dont have wings but do grow feathers in various places and act like their bird counterparts. sans uses his hood to imitate the crest of a blue jay, only lowering it around papyrus. he is very protective of his brother, extremely intelligent and capable of mimicking the sounds of others eerily well. he also carries a hidden sadistic streak unexpected from what looks like a typical swap-variant. he also loves being high up and can often be found perched up in trees or on his brother.

papyrus is the quieter brother and also, can be a total jerk. he is a powerhouse, though dont underestimate his intelligence either--he's more than happy to take advantage of situations and knows his stuff. he is fiercely loyal and doesn't like large crowds. most assume he is not very active, but he likes to stake out his 'territory' often and is, in fact, terrifyingly fast when he wants to be. he is very good with children, too, and the first to adopt chara when she falls.

monsters even dress like birds. sans and papyrus are most noticeable, but undyne, alphys, mk, and a few others are noticeably dressed as well.

some of the swaps go like this

sans <--> papyrus (personality, blended roles)

undyne <--> alphys (personality)

asgore <--> toriel (personality, role)

muffet <--> grillby (role, blended personality)

gaster -> more aggressive/sadistic/insane, possibly gender swapped

chara (she/her) <--> frisk (they/them) (role swap)

mk (gender swap) etc

river person (nicknamed Charon/the Ferryman) -> was present during the human/monster war, got their name for their kill count and fondness of water. no one alive has ever seen their face

Hey, check out this cool AU!

is the world really such a terrible place? yesterday i asked if oat milk was extra and the barista said yes so i said ok just regular milk then and when she gave me my chai latte she whispered “i used oat milk ;)” doesnt that make u want to live another day?

here is my life philosophy: next week there might be someone ahead of you in line at the store who’s short a quarter and you have a quarter and you can give it to them. if you weren’t there, they’d have to put something back. the week after that you could be getting lunch and the waiter might ask if you want some pancakes someone else ordered and never picked up. you could find someone’s lost cat. you could watch someone’s bag while they go to the restroom. there are so many ways you are going to touch other people’s lives and they are going to touch yours and there’s no way to know when it’s going to happen. so you have to keep living!!! i wouldn’t want to die knowing that tomorrow the barista will give me free oat milk just to be nice.

When I was 11 years old - we went to Sea World for my birthday. This was to avoid the realization I had no friends, and no one to come to a birthday party and probably because someone gave my mother free tickets at work. It was kinda a shitty day despite being at a theme park full of cute animals. There was a new roller coaster there that had just opened so we decided to go on. I was nervous. I’d never been on a roller coaster.

A group of 6 college kids were ahead of us in line and started chatting with me. Full on just having a fun conversation with someone literally going through the beginning of a very awkward middle school period. I was so shocked they wanted to talk to me. I think my mom mentioned it was my birthday. They were very nice about it. When we got on the ride they told us to go ahead of them so we could sit at the front of the car since it held 8 people.

Now the ride (called Journey to Atlantis - I believe it is sadly no longer there) started with a slow ride of beautiful visuals of dolphins and oceans and computerized images of this imaginary Atlantis before going up the hill to the beginning of the coaster, where it paused for about 30 seconds, and then the ride started. The college kids must have known there would be a pause. Maybe they’d ridden it before I’m not sure.

But as we sat there on that peak, 6 people I’ve never known, and will never know again, sang a very very lonely 11 year old happy birthday. Loudly. And with gusto. They were happy and laughing and joyful. And it made me feel less alone in the world.

I am 29 years old this year, and I still remember them. I still remember that kindness. It is so important. It doesn’t go into a vacuum. It exists beside me in my daily life. And I love the idea that I have been that person to someone else too.

It’s stunningly lovely to be human when we’re kind to each other.

OH THIS CAN’T BE LEFT IN THE NOTES

I just like this.

I made a character design within a Picrew that I liked so much that I needed to draw. Said drawing is above.

Of course I made some changes between the design within the Picrew and the final drawing. It was fun.

Also, here's the design within the Picrew in case you didn't see my other post where I shared it.

What do you all think of the design and the final drawing? Feel free to let me know.
