Hen’s “It’s embarrassing for something so silly to hurt so much” hit me in my fucking chest
Buck & Bobby in S08E13
9-1-1
Honestly though you expect me to watch Buck on all those facetime calls being everything Eddie needs exactly when he needs it and not think Eddie is already deeply in love with him? Be real.
“it’s unrealistic that everyone would forget hen’s birthday!” i agree but it’s probably more unrealistic that a truck full of killer bees would form a tornado like shape and cause a plane malfunction that results in a little boy and a police officer having to land said plane on the freeway. so i’ll this one slide
ha ha. having a moment of reflection about how insane the buddie arc in season 3 is. because of course we all know that eddie yells at buck for not being around enough and basically calls him a deadbeat dad <- guy he has known for like maybe 18 months at this point btw. and instead of this being a common fanon interpretation of an ambiguously-intended canon conversation, the show revisits this in a later episode and has buck say In The Text uh yeah eddie. you were right, actually. you and chris needed me, and i wasn’t around, and that was fucked up of me to do. i’m sorry, and i’m not going to leave you hanging like that again. after eddie has already explicitly stated that he trusts buck with chris more than he trusts anyone else in the world (including christopher’s two living grandparents, eddie’s own sisters, his grandmother, the woman he pays to care for chris, and eddie’s aunt, all of whom we have met in the context of the show up to this point). like. lol.
Came across this in a report at work
im thinking about the buckley siblings…….and how in s1 the writers probably never even intended for buck to have an older sister or had thought about it that hard and then in s2 they cast jlh and were like we need to come up with a way to integrate her into the cast easily…….i know! ☝️ lets invent an older sister for buck! and then within like 8 episodes they were one of the best most compelling sweetest dynamics in the show……..and within half a season they were one of the best sibling duos on television ever…….and their relationship has only gotten deeper and more complex and more wonderful over time………who is doing it like them truly
goddd claudette really ranks with most infuriating characters ever
and the narrative treated it like it was a both sides thing rather than a grown ass woman bullying a 19(?) year old for literally no reason
I love that Eddie having Chris move back in with him was ultimately an act of protection. He was willing to let Chris live with his parents if that was what he wanted, because Chris’ happiness comes first before anything at all. But as soon as he got a whiff of Chris’ unhappiness, as soon as he could sense his parents doing to his son exactly what they did to him, he said “Nope, I’m getting you out of there.”
That’s what “dad up” was always going to be. It was never going to be Eddie making a selfish decision because he wants Chris back with him. It was always going to be Eddie realising “I am your father, and that means I will make this decision for you. I will do the uncomfortable thing, because you don’t want to upset them. I don’t mind upsetting them, because it is my job to protect you.”
never knew i wanted you so bad
whatever you do don’t listen to roots by grace davies and think about 8b eddie🫠
8x13 coda bc i will not know peace until we get a buckley-diaz family reunionEddie props his phone up against an empty mug on the coffee table, feeling Chris shift in anticipation at his side while the FaceTime dial tone rings out. They don’t have to wait long for Buck to pick up – he’s pretty sure Buck hasn’t let any phone call go beyond three rings since he got to Texas.
When the call connects there’s a moment where Eddie thinks Buck is frozen but then Chris exclaims a, “Hey Buck!” and Eddie watches what must’ve been shock on Buck’s face melt into something soft and familiar.
“God, it feels good to see the two of you next to each other again,” Buck says, exhaling a little laugh. “Hey, buddy. I missed you.”
The words make Eddie’s stomach clench and he can’t help tightening his hold around Chris, if only because he’s the only one of the two of them Eddie can actually reach for. He knows Buck has stayed in contact with Chris these past few months. It’s mostly been through stupid memes he sends into the groupchat the three of them have but they haven’t talked on the phone except for the few times Buck has been there when Eddie was FaceTiming Chris.
“Miss you too,” Chris says, leaning a little more into Eddie’s side so he can see the phone better. “How’s the house? What’s it look like with all your stuff in it?”
Buck grins, big and bright, and the camera jostles for a second as he clearly picks up his phone. “You want a tour?”
Buck takes them on a tour of their house, something he hasn’t actually done in all the times he and Eddie have been on FaceTime. Eddie can always tell what part of the house he’s in but usually the screen is taken up by Buck’s face. Now, he walks them from room to room while Chris makes fun of him for laying out the house the exact same way they did except with his own stuff instead.
“What can I say?” Buck shrugs when he turns the camera back to his face. “Your dad’s got an eye for interior decorating.”
Eddie looks at his current living room that’s not quite falling down around him anymore but still isn’t in the best shape and says, “Think you might be thinking a little too highly of me with that one, Buck.”
