I hate that thing some people do where it's like. "I left my wallet on the table to see if you'd say anything" or "I wanted to see if you'd wash the car if I stopped doing it"

Cause like

I dont know about anyone else

But I am perpetually hovering three inches above the strong subconscious belief that everyone knows what they're doing at all times except me, so if you change your normal patterns and I notice, then I will assume it is an intentional choice with a thought-out plan behind it and I will avoid interfering

And if I don't notice, because I won't, because why would I, because not much bothers me and if you don't say anything to indicate you are bothered then how would I KNOW

Alternatives to experimenting on me like a lab rat when you suspect me of being inconsiderate:

  1. "I feel like I'm the only one who does this chore. Can we start taking turns?"
  2. "I'd like you to ask me how I'm doing more often."
  3. "It bothers me when this area stays messy so long. Can you do X when Y happens?"
  4. "I feel like the onus is on me to initiate X, and it's wearing me down. Could you try making the first move more? Like 3-4 times a week?"
  5. "I'm feeling upset right now and I'd like to spend some time with you."
  6. "When X happens, I feel like you're taking my work for granted."
  7. "I'm feeling neglected. Could you do X?"
  8. "I'm burnt out and need help."
  9. "I feel like I'm the only one putting effort into X."
  10. "Do you notice this?"
  11. "Are you bothered by this?"
  12. "I am bothered when this happens."
  13. "X habit of yours bothers me."
  14. "When X is like this, I feel bad. Can you [action] when you notice X?"

If a girl feels uncomfortable hanging out with you alone, and you get so offended by that, it makes you angry, she probably made the right choice.

mallamun-socialjustice

I know I’ve reblogged this recently but still so spot the fuck on.

killingannabellee

In general if a dude gets angry by you declining an invitation you made the right choice to say no

lynati

If they get angry when you say “no” to hanging out with them, what else are they going to get angry about you saying “no” to?

^^ Slight side note:

When I was online dating I used to do what so many of us do; set up a safety check with a friend. I used to be really slick about it; take a restroom break or quietly/subtle check and answer a text. Then I realized what a good marker it was to check if I wanted to actually be on this date at all. So at whatever time check in was supposed to be, I would pull out my phone and say “sorry, I just have to let my friend know I’m good”. If someone was vaguely offended, I might stay depending on the convo we had after. If someone was SUPER offended, I said “this is exactly why. Thanks for meeting me, I’ve got to go.”  This happened three times I can remember and the first time my voice was shaking so bad as I said it because, you know. You never know what their response is going to be and he was so aggressively angry I was ending the date “over that”.

The person I ended up with? “Ah, yay-I’m-not-murdered check. Good plan.” Then when my phone was buzzing later (because we ended up on a five hour date on a Monday night) he goes “you should probably let them know you’re still alive. Do you have to go?”

*No woman I was ever on a date with was mad about this. Not one.

This is just like testing the breaks before driving an unfamiliar car guys, and you do NOT drive a car with no breaks. If they can’t handle “no,” it’s not safe for you to say, “yes,” and you need to gtfo of there so you don’t get run over.

Also, OP I love your url, it is perfect for this post.

Trying to sell handmade crafts in this economy is so. Like. Hey guys I know we're all broke as fuck but do you want my silly little things. I'm very good at it. For the time it takes to make them + skill + materials it's gonna be 30$ per silly little thing. But also shipping costs 12$ for reasons outside my control so it's actually 42$ now. Sorry. No I really can't charge less than that. Yeah I know. Ok. Bye

tlirsgender

And this is for my things that are silly and little. I'm not even one of those people making, like, quilts and blankets and shit. Can we pour one out for the fiber artists making quilts and blankets and shit

tlirsgender

I'm presenting a tiny crocheted bird to you. Putting it into the palm of your hand. This can be yours. For what seems like too much money but I promise it isn't. We've all just really lost sight of fiber arts' value with industrialization and outsourced sweatshop labor etc. This is actually the minimum I could ask for without fucking myself. I don't like what this implies about mass produced items either. It's really horrific. You can get an ethically sourced 42$ tiny crocheted bird though

tlirsgender

Shortly after posting this I received an order for nearly 200$ worth of tiny crocheted birds this is the good luck post for people actually paying for your handmade crafts

snaxle

shrek 5's teaser animation isnt bad you're just nostalgic for movies made in 2001

snaxle

"OMG why is there TIKTOK??? IN THE SHREK UNIVERSE?" <- person who has never seen shrek before

snaxle

shrek has always been full of pop culture references. you just think it's cringe now because you're 20+ years older. now shut up and enjoy shrek's lesbian daughter voiced by zendaya and pinocchio making thirst trap edits of shrek twerking on tiktok

rubykgrant

this is a neat way to find out about Shrek 5

Friends,

A grassroots movement is calling on all Americans to abstain from shopping with major retailers — including Amazon — tomorrow, February 28, as part of an “economic blackout.”

The purpose is to send a clear message: We have the power. We don’t have to accept corporate monopolies. We don’t have to live with corporate money corrupting our politics.

We don’t have to accept more tax cuts for billionaires. We don’t have to pay more of our hard-earned cash to Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos or Mark Zuckerberg or the other billionaire oligarchs.

We don’t have to reward corporations that have abandoned their DEI policies to align themselves with Trump’s racist, homophobic, misogynistic agenda.

We have choices.

Most Americans are struggling to keep up. Most live from paycheck to paycheck. Most can barely afford housing costs, food prices, and pharmaceuticals — kept high by monopolies, and fueled by private equity.

If politicians won’t hear the voices of average Americans who are being shafted by corporate America, we have to deliver our message to corporate America directly.

From midnight tonight to midnight Friday night, please: No Amazon, no Walmart, no Best Buy, no Target, no Disney, no Google, no Facebook. Don’t spend on fast food, major retailers, or gas.

Avoid using credit or debit cards to make nonessential purchases.

Buy essentials such as medicine, food, and emergency supplies, of course, but make those purchases at small, local businesses.

Consider this a test run. If lots of people participate, I’m sure a longer one will be organized.

(Tomorrow’s economic blackout is an initiative of The People’s Union USA, which describes itself as a “grassroots movement dedicated to economic resistance, government accountability, and corporate reform.”)'

I hope you'll join. What do you think?

I think when actually-Robert-Reich says something is a good idea economically, I listen, sir.
