The way Buttercup always hissed at Katniss until she gave him entrails. But she tolerated him because Prim loved him. Then in the end of Mockingjay he helped her healing.

Then the Geese always hissed at Haymitch until he gave them cracked corn. But he tolerated them because Lenore loved them. Then in the end of Mockingjay they helped his healing.

The parallels will never end :(

So Katniss had her hunting from her dead father. Peeta had his baking from his dead family. And Haymitch had his Geese from his dead girlfriend? After the war, each one of them decided to hold on something that reminded them of the ones they’d lost, while gathering strength to survive another day

I just realised that Haymitch was the last person to be reaped for the Hunger Games just as he promised, it was simply 25 years later than he intended.

I was about to write: I love the fact that Katniss‘ first reaction to Haymitch‘s absolutely traumatising story is „You need some goose eggs. Goose eggs will help.“

And then I realised… She‘s mimicking Peeta. Peeta comes back to 12 and the first thing he does is plant primroses. And somehow… that helped her. So she‘s doing the same thing for Haymitch.

"snowflake" was popularized in Fight Club, a novel by a gay man. "red-pill" is from a movie created by two trans women and is a metaphor for estrogen and gender transitioning. those same women adapted V For Vendetta from the original comic (written by a polyamorous man who may or may not be queer but certainly has something going on); in both versions the titular protagonist "V" is implied to be transmasculine, and a survivor of torture and imprisonment for the crime of homosexuality.

because that's what they see in us, these bigots who are happy to consume and quote and corrupt queer-created media, as long as they can erase every beautiful root. they see criminals, commiting the crime of being queer. and they are doing their damnedest to bring back the laws that made it so.
