Keep Making The Same Mistakes

I picked up an Ashford Country Spinner recently for chunky yarns and decided she needed a personal touch!

I’ve named her Ava.

She currently has 15 warbler species and a Hermit Thrush completed, but I’ll be adding more on other surfaces little by little! I went with a heavily simplified, pretty stylized style and I’m loving how it’s turning out.

The next few I’m working on are all 4 species of North American nuthatches on each side corner

I love this gold effect every time I use it

I'm debating making a second, larger bowl. I think even with a significantly lower flow I'm gonna need higher sides and more space for splashing.

Also! This piece will be on exhibit at the Garrett Museum from Oct-Dec this year, with these pieces:

Moon Lander 16 x 12 in, Oil

Character in Context, the largest exhibition of original illustration in the Western U.S. opening May 2! Come see the show in-person at the A.R. Mitchell Museum of Western Art in Trinidad, Colorado, with several artists in attendance. Demonstrations and gallery talks on Saturday May 3!

The show is intended to give viewers a peak into the process of creating human-made art by displaying final art along side some of the preliminary work that went into creating it. Both this final painting and the study, posted last month, will be included in the show.

whew underglaze fine liners are not for those with shaky hands (me). hopefully this fires okay

Okay I know accessibility devices are never one-size-fits-all and that there’s a use case for these somewhere, but I can’t stop imagining trying to talk to someone at a party and they look at you and move the level down a few ticks

Another stone/creature.

I made a small series of these, I'm pretty sure I've posted these before - but I'm looking at them again because I like it when the edge becomes so important in a piece, and want to capture that in some new work.

today's warm up: when you feed your flock on the deadfall of a high fae, things tend to turn out different. My dnd werewolf oc Leena and her fae flock.
